LFP (LiFePO4) and NMC lithium-ion packs

As a lithium battery manufacturer for OEM programs, we work with both major chemistries:

How a custom battery pack program works

  1. Requirements. Application, voltage, continuous and peak current, runtime or capacity, charger, available space, environment, BMS communications, compliance needs, first-order quantity and annual volume.
  2. Pack design. Cell selection and series/parallel configuration, a battery management system matched to current and communications, fusing and isolation, thermal management, mechanical protection and enclosure.
  3. Prototype and validation. Reference or prototype builds tested electrically, mechanically and thermally against a validation plan agreed before release. See rapid battery prototyping and prototype to production.

  5. Change control and resupply. You know who controls the BOM, firmware and approved substitutions, so components don't change silently between builds.

Choosing a lithium battery supplier: what to ask

Who owns the battery specification? The program should name who controls the bill of materials, drawings, firmware, approved substitutions, test limits and revision history. That stops silent component changes from turning into field failures.

How are production and quality claims verified? Ask for evidence tied to your actual program: supplier capability, process documentation, inspection and test records, traceability, corrective-action workflow and acceptance criteria. A generic certificate is not enough.

What changes between a prototype and volume production? Prototype success is only one gate. Pilot builds, tooling, controlled documentation, component availability, end-of-line testing, packaging, transport and certification all need planning before volume release.
